JOB TITLE: Material Coordinator
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
SUPERVISION: Reports to the Plant Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Materials Coordinator is responsible for the inventory management of direct raw material, non-inventory essential Items, and finished good inventory at Morcon. This role is a “hands-on” position who will work closely with Supply Chain and Production Planning to ensure materials are on site when needed to fulfill production and stocking requirements.  Morcon is a team-oriented environment where respect, responsibility, creativity, and reliability is mandatory.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Include but not limited to:

  • Shipping & Receiving
    • Coordinate with logistics regarding material delivery to ensure timely and accurate shipments and receipts.
    • Acknowledge and process receipt of goods, ensuring accurate receiving records and noting discrepancies as needed.
    • Acknowledge and process shipment of goods, ensuring accurate shipment records and noting discrepancies as needed.
    • Follow-up on past due or delayed orders and proactively communicate potential issues that could affect production and/or stocking requirements.
    • Inclusive of all Items transacted Inbound and outbound of the facility. Including but not limited to;
      • Paper
      • KD’s
      • Core Stock
      • Glue
      • Pallets
      • Tape, Poly, Shrink Wrap
      • Waste
      • Maintenance Parts
      • Amazon, UPS, Fed Ex
  • Inventory Management
    • Conduct regular analysis of inventory data and review of production schedules to set accurate and adequate stocking levels in order to avoid shortages or excess supply.
      • Stocking levels to set by Corporate Supply Chain Team
    • Oversee movement of raw material and finished goods within the facility for staging and consumption of all converting lines
    • Perform daily physical cycle counts to ensure accurate floor and system inventory levels. Including but not limited to;
      • Paper
      • KD’s
      • Core Stock
      • Glue
      • Pallets
      • Tape, Poly, Shrink Wrap
  • Procurement
    • Execute standard purchasing processes for raw material, non-inventory supplies, etc. used at the plant level, including but not limited to, order requisition creation, order adjustments, and expediting orders when needed.
      • Purchase Orders will be placed at a corporate level
    • Including but not limited to;
      • Core Stock
      • Glue
      • Pallets
      • Tape, Poly, Shrink Wrap
      • Shipping Labels
      • Truck Seals
      • Airbags
      • Date Printer Ink (Production)
      • Maintenance Consumables
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify, evaluate and recommend cost savings opportunities and drive standardization of processes to improve workflow efficiencies and effectiveness of material management.
    • Identify, evaluate, and recommend process Improvements to the flow of goods in and out of the facility.
    • Execute continuous improvement and “war on waste” initiatives working collaboratively with the Supply Chain and Operations Leaders.
    • Communicate with Sourcing to aid in tracking vendor performance using key metrics such as on-time delivery, material returns and availability, lead-time adherence, accurate paperwork, etc.
    • Support direction and strategies regarding department improvement initiatives, inventory management, and supplier performance and purchasing activities.
  • All other tasks as instructed by management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fork Lift & Clamp Certification
  • Yard Truck Certification
  • Results-oriented and demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as teamwork and interpersonal skills, to include the ability to develop high quality working relationships both internally and externally with customers and suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptive to internal processes and change, delays or unexpected events
  • Proficiency at the intermediate to experienced level in MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Sage 100 is preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding proprietary company information
  • Willing and able to work extended hours, including weekends as required in order to support manufacturing and Inventory needs.
  • Travel domestically to other Morcon sites, vendor and/or customer visits, training events, as needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse work environment
  • OJT Certifications on priority assets
  • Fork Lift certification
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as assigned is required.
