Happy National Salesperson Day!
In honor of #NationalSalespersonDay we would like to put the spotlight on our sales team! Day in and day out these individuals work on generating leads, nourishing customer relationships and representing Morcon Tissue to the best of their ability.
Our sales team, Laura, Dave and Mark are tremendous resources with a deep understanding of our commercial paper products and services. Their dedication, tenacity and compassion are appreciated all year long! Learn more about how and why these three go-getters are great at what they do, why they love it and how it all started for them.
How did you begin your career in sales?
My parents hired me in 1996 fresh out of college to handle sales in the North East for Morcon. I had a double major in finance and management and the next thing I knew I was selling napkins and bath tissue. I have been in sales ever since!
I have been doing this for 24 years and I have followed in my Dad’s foot steps. He was in sales his entire career so you can say I grew up around sales and wanted to be like my Dad.
When I was in high school a friend’s father who is a very successful business owner recommended that I get into sales. I majored in Marketing in college knowing that I was going directly into sales after graduation. I have sold cars (first sale was a Cadillac CTS), copiers, food and have been in the paper business for 11 years now.
Why do you enjoy being a salesperson?
I enjoy my interaction with the customers. I will forever be grateful for the relationships I have been allowed to build. There is nothing that cannot be accomplished when you have good relationships and true customer partners.
I enjoy being in sales because of the challenges I face every day. No two days are the same. Every day I look forward to going to work because I love what I do. Sales is like peaks and valleys, what you do when you are in the valley will make you successful and sustain you at the peak.
I get to work with a lot of different types of people from all walks of life and have met a lot of great people, both coworkers and customers.
What do you get out of your role at Morcon Tissue?
Challenges, rewards and professional development. After all these years I am still learning from the industry, our customers and from the leadership at Morcon.
I love building the relationship with my customers. At the end of the day, sales is all about relationships and building trust between you and your customers.
It feels great closing sales knowing that they are going to help produce positive results at the end of the year.
What is your favorite part of the sales grind?
I love to be the voice of the customer. I am honored to have the trust of Morcon Tissue and our customers to be that voice.
Getting in front of the customer and making the presentation to earn a new piece of business is my favorite part. I love presenting to my customers and convincing them to buy my product. No greater feeling at work than to hear a customer say they are going to buy your product.
My Favorite part of sales is creating win-win situations through consultative selling. Adding value to my customers business through customized solutions creates a great situation for both Morcon Tissue and our customers.
A big thank you to these three for all of their hard work. Keep it up! Here’s to you Laura, Mark and Dave!
