Improve the Cleanliness of Your Facility
With COVID-19 affecting our everyday lives, it is important to stay safe to prevent the spread. Proper hand washing and drying is the first step in prevention.
Hand washing is one of the most basic ways we can avoid getting sick and prevent the spread of germs and diseases. Following simple steps to make sure you clean every nook and cranny of your hands to get rid of germs. However, almost equally as important, is how we choose to dry these freshly clean hands. The question “are hand dryers more hygienic than paper towels?” is no longer a debate.
Paper Towels are the Most Hygienic Option!
Many studies have found that air dryers are full of “hot air” and nothing more.
According to a study published in the April 2018 edition of Applied and Environmental Microbiology, you may want to think twice before you use hand dryers in public restrooms. Researchers state that hot air dryers actually spread bathroom bacteria that cause disease and infection. Another study in the Journal of Hospital Infection supports this finding stating that jet-air dryers have 27 times higher bacteria levels than paper towel dispensers.
Many hand washing guidelines from reputable organizations like the WHO and the CDC recommend single-use towels to dry hands. Drying hands with something other than paper towels can cause germs remain even after proper hand washing, leaving hands dirtier than before.
Still not convinced? Our partner, EBP Solutions, provides six reasons why paper towels are the best choice for your business:
- More Hygienic – Use paper towels to prevent cross-contamination
- Reduce the amount of germs in the restroom – Air dryers can spread germs as far as 5 Ft
- Faster and more efficient than air dryers – Hand dryers can take as long 45 seconds to dry hands
- Quieter than air dryers – Loud noises from the air dryers can be very disturbing
- Sustainable options are available – Lots of environmental friendly options are available
- Available as a no touch Solution – Only touching what you use reduces the spread of germs
Furthermore, when surveyed, 62% of people claimed they would choose paper towels over air dryers. Having paper towels in your restroom can provide a cleaner, healthier environment and overall better customer experience.
