Morcon Tissue on Pace for Record Year

We may only be halfway through 2024, but Morcon is already experiencing a record year. With significant investments in sales support, product development,  high-speed assets,  and expansion of our facilities, our team is poised for the most successful year in company history. Here’s some insight into how and why we are on pace for such incredible growth and results.

Expanding the Team

Morcon’s sales are up 30% from last year. The success is greatly owed to our sales team, who have gone above and beyond to drive this record growth. Our very capable and responsive inside sales and customer service team – including Roger Shaw, Ashlyn Gardunia and Brittany Dukette – supports our growing outside sales professionals. This past year, we have brought on two new sales representatives: Lauren Keating, Sales Director of the Southeast, and Ryan Kinney, Territory Manager of the Mid-Atlantic.  We will be filling a position in the Northeast as well as adding someone in the Midwest to assist Peter Brown as we move through 2024.

Ryan Kinney offers a wealth of experience with a B.S. in Communications from Towson University. He has built a robust career encompassing sales, marketing, customer service, and account management. He most recently spent the last two and a half years at Bunzl R3. Ryan has experienced rapid growth in his territory since joining just five months ago, leveraging his diverse sales expertise.

Lauren Keating will be managing our Southeast Territory. With an impressive 17 years of experience in the AFH industry, Lauren joins Morcon after distinguished stints at industry giants such as Georgia-Pacific and SC Johnson. Her knack for developing tailored solutions to meet customer needs is a testament to her richly varied background. Lauren brings her wealth of knowledge to the table and is already driving growth and fostering meaningful connections with clients in the southeast.

Production Records

In 2023, we installed several new assets to support our customers. The most impactful of which is the Start/Stop United Converting S-60 Winder. This machine enables us to produce a number of items with improved quality and efficiency, including but not limited to Jumbo Bath Tissue, Hard Wound Roll Towels, and CenterPull Towels.

Our South Carolina Team continues to set new production records. S60 operator James Culp produced 1748 cases of 129X in a single shift, the most cases produced on one asset in a shift in Morcon’s history! The benefits of this machine are clear and invaluable to our company as we continue to invest infrastructure to support our go-to-market strategy.

Additionally, Morcon is planning an expansion of our South Carolina plant. Engineering and architectural drawings are in process, with expectations to break ground in early 2025. The additional 100,000 square feet will be an enabler for additional capacity, lead time reductions, work flow improvements, and a number of new jobs in the Great Falls, SC community.

New Product Development

To meet the needs of our distribution customers and grow in key market segments, we have added a variety of new SKUs to the lineup. Most recently, the M1232 has made its way into the Morcon catalog. The M1232 is a 1-ply bath tissue ideal for high-traffic locations, with a standard 2” core and 1200 sheets per roll. This product is now available for purchase, along with our new CBT, Facial Tissue, and KRT.

This summer we will be adding Airlaid Napkins, a high quality 2 ply dinner napkin and Guest Towels Adding these specialty products will allow us to access high-end markets while still being accessible to the average food service distributor. These additions are anticipated to be ready for purchase toward the end of Q3. Product details can be found below:
