Airlaid material, also referred to as linen feel, is a lofty, fabric-like non-woven made primarily from fluff pulp (cellulose fibers) and sometimes blended with other natural or synthetic fibers. Instead of using water like traditional papermaking, Airlaid employs air to disperse fibers into a uniform web, which is then bonded via latex, thermal bonding, or hydrogen bonding.

Fiber Makeup & Production:

Raw material
- Mainly bleached softwood fluff pulp, optionally mixed with cotton, polyester, polypropylene, or bicomponent fibers for tailored performance.
Defibration & Air Laying
- Pulp rolls undergo hammermill defibration, freeing fibers, which are then blown onto a conveyor/vacuum belt, forming a bulky, isotropic web.
Bonding
- The loose web is bonded using adhesives, heat, or hydrogen bonding—often a combination—for strength.

This results in a thicker, more textile‑like structure than typical paper, offering a linen‑feel texture that’s soft.
